Mkts end 4% down on weak global cues

Mkts end 4% down on weak global cues

Global cues were the main reason behind the slump.

At closing,

European markets were

  • The FTSE  down 100 points at 4,048
  • CAC down 92 points to 2,882
  •  DAX down 120 points to 4,219.

Asian markets ended mixed.

  • Hang Seng fell 3.14% and
  • Straits Times lost 2.36%.
  • Kospi and Nikkei lost 1.3-1.5%.
  •  Shanghai down 1.06%
  • Taiwan down 0.28%.

 NSE Nifty closed below 2800 mark, down 3.76% or 108.15 points at 2766.65

 BSE Sensex shut shop at 9,066.70, down 357.54 points or 3.795

RESULTS

TODAYS RESULTS FY09Q3

Reliance Industries

The company's Q3 net profit was down 9.8% at Rs 3,501 vs Rs 3,882 crore.

Its other income was up at Rs 663 vs Rs 241 crore.

Its net sales were down 8.8% at Rs 31,563 vs Rs 34,590 crore.


Ranbaxy Laboratories

The company's Q4 net loss stood at Rs 680 vs net profit of Rs 187.8 crore

Its net sales stood at
Rs 1909 vs Rs 1795.1 crore.

Noida Toll Bridge 

The company's standalone net sales were at Rs 19.6 vsRs 17.1 crore.

Its standalone net profit was at Rs 8.4 vs Rs 6.6 crore.

Bank of India 

The company's Q3 standalone NII was up at Rs 1,521.7 vs Rs 1,079.5 crore, YoY.

Its standalone net profit was up 70% at Rs 872.2 vs Rs 511.9 crore, YoY.

Its other income was up 89.60% at Rs 1,050 vs Rs 554.1 crore.

FY09Q3 RESULTS OUT ON 21st

Hindustan Zinc   331.80 -17.35 (-4.97%)

Net profit was at Rs 370 vs Rs 785 crore.

Net sales were at Rs 1,031 vs Rs 1,658 crore.

WIPRO    219.75 -8.10 (-3.55%)

Consolidated net profit stood at Rs 1,003.9 vsRs 969.8 crore quarter-on-quarter.Up by3.52%

Added 31 clients in Q3 and increased its number of million-dollar clients.

They see a growth of 5-6% in constant currency terms in Q4. 

HDFC   1372.25 -111.05 (-7.49%)

The net profit stood at Rs 547 vs Rs 649 crore.

The net profit was boosted by exceptional gain of Rs 121 crore.

Its net profit at Rs 547 vs Rs 528 crore (Excl Exceptional Gain).

Its net interest income  at Rs 785.3 vs Rs 665.5 crore.

Its interest expense went up 55% at Rs 2,043 crore.

Its other income was at Rs 7 vs Rs 107.7 crore.

Petronet LNG   36.10 -0.70 (-1.9%) 

The company's net profit was at Rs 105 vs Rs 131 crore. 

Its net sales were at
Rs 2,473 vsRs 1581.1 crore.

The company's other income was at
Rs 22.15 vs Rs 11.96 crore

Operating profit was at Rs 185.5 vs Rs 232 crore.

Its OPM was at
7.5% vs 14.7%.
